Since we use Trijicon RMRs on our handguns almost exclusively...why not also on our shotguns? Easy button - add the parallax free RMR. Raise the weapon, look through the optic, and wherever the dot is, that is where you will hit.  And that won't matter whether you are using buckshot or slugs.  And if you are running a Tac-14, Shockwave, or Stakeout weapon, this is almost mandatory if you actually want to hit anything.

Our Shotgun Trijicon RMR mount is designed for the Remington 870 platform, but having found most shotgun receivers are the same it will also fit other platforms such as Beretta, Mossberg, etc.  It accepts a Trijicon RMR of your choice and will cowitness with any rifle sights you are using.  With the rise of urban riots and insurgencies across the nation, the interest in the shotgun has increased.  With the addition of this mount, and judicious ammunition choices, the 12 ga weapon can serve you well in such situations and will exceed what is possible with a rifle or a pistol.  The closer the optic is to the eye (within reason) the greater field of view you get and the easier to find the dot. The opposite is also true. Put the dot far out there and finding it becomes more difficult.
